Could You Volunteer For A New Patient Transport Scheme?

Are you organised, a great communicator and have a few hours to spare each week?

The Hereward Patient Participation Group is looking for volunteers to help co-ordinate their new patient transport scheme.

The Hereward Voluntary Car Service will help patients without transport or in rural locations, to get to and from their surgery and hospital appointments.

Applicants would need to have a few hours to spare each week to take phone calls (between 2pm and 4pm on weekdays), book in routes, calculate mileage and fees and help with the smooth running of the service.
When the scheme starts, patients from The Hereward Practice will be charged a nominal sum to cover mileage costs for their journey. Full details about the scheme and how to book will be circulated nearer the launch time.

Tony Cushing, from the Patient Participation Group, said: ‘We would love to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer. We’d like co-ordinators to be organised, familiar with using Excel and with good communication skills. We are also recruiting for volunteer drivers with their own transport, so if people want more details about either role then please contact the scheme on 0759 731 7001.’
