Nurse Vicky Woolacott is Legs Matter Champion and wound care specialist
Congratulations to Practice Nurse Vicky Woolacott, who has recently become our Legs Matter Champion. Legs Matter is a collaborative initiative made up of eight healthcare charities and professional organisations dedicated to improving lower limb and wound care across the UK.
Through this role, Vicky will have access to specialist resources, education, clinical guidance and networking opportunities that will further enhance the support available to the practice.
Her new role will enable her to share the latest evidence-based practice with colleagues and continue developing wound care knowledge throughout the nursing team.
Vicky has also taken part in specialist wound management workshops, educational events and training sessions. Her enthusiasm for learning has not only enhanced her own clinical expertise but has also benefited our wider team through the organisation of training opportunities for our practice nurses.
Lead Nurse Sue Handley said: ‘I have been working closely with Vicky to ensure the appropriate support systems are in place as we continue to strengthen our wound care service. We are also arranging additional training sessions for our HCAs, ensuring that every member of the team has access to the knowledge and skills needed to provide consistent, high-quality care. Vicky will be leading in-house training sessions for Practice Nurses and HCAs, helping to:
- Improve confidence in wound assessment and management.
- Share the latest evidence and best practice.
- Promote consistent wound care across the practice.
- Support colleagues managing more complex wounds.
- Encourage timely referral to specialist services where appropriate.
