Pharmacy First information event
Wednesday 25 March 2026, 9.30am to 11.30am
We are working with the Four Counties Primary Care Network (PCN) to hold a Pharmacy First drop-in information event at Hereward Practice on Wednesday 25 March 2026 from 9.30am to 11.30am.
The event is open to all patients and the local community, and will explain how community pharmacists can now assess, treat and provide prescription medicines for a range of common conditions without needing a GP appointment.
The event aims to help patients understand when Pharmacy First is the right option for their care and how using this service can help free up GP appointments for those who need them most.
Community pharmacies can now treat a range of common health conditions without needing to see a GP. This is part of a major change in how the NHS provides care, making it quicker and easier to get help close to home.
Highly trained community pharmacists can assess, treat and, where appropriate, provide prescription medicines for the following conditions:
- Earache (children aged 1 - 17)
- Impetigo
- Infected insect bites
- Shingles
- Sinusitis
- Sore throat
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs) for women aged 16 - 64
No appointment is needed. Pharmacists can also offer private consultations, provide expert health advice and direct you to other local NHS services if needed.
By using Pharmacy First for minor illnesses, you are helping to free up GP appointments for patients who need them most.
