Prescription Order Line and Voicemail to Close

We’re making a change to how you order your repeat prescriptions from 1st Janaury 2026, and the main reason is your safety.

We are seeing more differences between what patients think they have requested over the phone and what is recorded on our system. Medication names can sound similar, be pronounced differently, or be misheard. Using written or online requests removes that risk and helps make sure the right medication is ordered for you, every time.

Our practice is also getting much busier, with more people on regular medication and more complex health needs. Closing the phone line and voicemail means our clinical and dispensary teams can focus on processing prescriptions without interruption, which helps us work more safely and efficiently.

This change will also free up our phone lines so patients calling with medical queries can get through more easily.

What is changing?

From Thursday 1 January 2026, we will no longer take repeat prescription requests over the telephone or via voicemail.

You can continue to order your repeat medication using any of the methods below:

How to order your repeat prescriptions

Please name each item you need

To keep your record accurate and reduce medication waste, we can’t accept requests such as “all my medications” or “all repeats.”

Please list the specific items you require. This helps ensure you receive the correct medication and reduces unnecessary costs for the NHS.

Will this change how long prescriptions take?

No, repeat prescriptions will continue to follow the usual processing timeframe.

The best time to order is 7 to 10 days before you run out.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep our prescribing safer and more efficient.
