Hereward Voluntary Car Service receives funds from Bourne Round Table

Hereward Voluntary Car Service, which is being set up by The Hereward Practice’s Patient Participation Group, has gratefully received a £1,000 donation from Bourne Round Table.
The Hereward Voluntary Car Service, which should launch later this year, will coordinate patient transport to and from healthcare appointments.
The cheque was presented to members of the PPG and Dr Tom Ashley Norman at Bourne Festival. PPG Member Tony Cushing is Project Lead and has been instrumental in applying for the donation which has been used to purchase a laptop and mobile phone for administration and taking bookings.
Sue Armstrong, Chair of the PPG, said: ‘This donation is hugely appreciated and will help us to continue with our planning for the Voluntary Car Service. Tony and the committee have done a huge amount of planning and are currently recruiting volunteer drivers, who, we hope, will be able to spare a few hours per week to take bookings, plan routes and make sure that Hereward Patients, particularly those without transport, or from rural areas, will be able to get to their healthcare appointments safely and on time. We will also recruit volunteer coordinators in the near future to help with the smooth running of the service.
‘On behalf of the PPG, the Hereward Voluntary Car Service, and the patients who will benefit from the scheme, I would like to say a huge thank you to Bourne Round Table for their very kind donation and support. It is much appreciated. This equipment will give us the tools we need to ensure a safe, responsive and efficient service, which, we hope, will be launched over the next few months.
